27/04: LED Lights Even Better Than Compact Fluorescent

Compact Fluorescent bulbs have just hit mainstream use and already they have strong competition from the LED light. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. For years they have been used as Christmas lights and standby lights in many appliances but never considered for everyday lighting use. The main reason for this is the fact that a LED light doesn't give off nearly enough light to fill an entire room. A new process has now made it possible.
By drilling microscopic holes in the surface of the diode it can allow more of its light to shine through. Using this innovation LEDs can now be used to light rooms even cheaper than a compact fluorescent and last longer. The average incandescent light bulb lasts 3000-4000 hours. The standard compact fluorescent lasts 25000-30000 hours. LED lights can last 35000 to 50000 hours! On top of their long life time and less power consumption they also don't burn out. A LED light simply gets dimmer and dimmer until it stops emitting light.
Due to the nano-drilling process still being new, it can be hard to find LED lights at an affordable rate yet. Here is an online store that you can shop through to get an idea. Dons Green Store
